1) Daily Hospital Cash Allowance
All health insurance policies take care of all hospitalisation cost. Also some policy offers pre-fixed per day cash payouts for the extra expenses incurred on, food, room, refreshments, commuting between hospital and home. These all add up to a substantial amount which can be insured in the form of Daily Hospital Cash Allowance.
Apart hospitalisation costs, some companies also insure for patient’s recovery expenses. It is called recuperating benefit. It is offered with a huge amount in case if he/she make a prolonged stay at the hospital. Usually the duration of prolonged stay will be between 7 and 10 days in many policies. This benefit ensures to provide supplementary costs instead of loss of income during these days.
3) Treatment Taken at Home
Generally most insurance policies coverage is restricted to only hospitalisation or day-care procedures. But some policies widen their coverage benefit to add domiciliary treatment taken at home as per doctor's advice. Mostly it is provided for the patient who is unable to visit a hospital. Later the insured person will be asked to submit medical bills from their doctor’s clinic.
4) Alternative Treatment
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) recently added new guidelines to include all companies also to cover non-allopathic forms of treatments such as Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani.
